Councillor Irene Richards
I have lived in Harston with my daughter for just over 4 and a half years. I joined the Harston Residents Group soon after arriving and, quickly, became engaged with helping to develop the successful Harston Neighbourhod Plan. Being a part of this working group gave me a unique knowledge and insight into our Village which serves me well in my new role.
I have wide local government experience both in Australia and in the London Borough of Enfield where I served on various committees. For my services to the community and safeguarding I was awarded a B.E.M by the late Queen Elizabeth in the 2022 New Year’s Honours List.
I am by qualification a BA (Hons) Open University, and a Librarian and a Teacher. My interests are in writing poetry and listening to classical music. I believe in lifelong learning.
Serving one’s community is a concept that I have always tried to put into action.
